Overview and how to participate
A visit to Long March to Freedom is EDUTAINMENT, easily connecting learners
and educators with the life and times of the persons so vividly depicted in
bronze, lifting the stories off the pages of the text books, and complimenting
the work in the classroom.
The activities are curriculum themed and suitable for learners of all ages and
academic grades. Public and private schools alike have equal acclaim for the
experiential impact on learners as well as the capacity to creatively give access
to history and heritage. LMTF is an exceptional tool for creating a sense of
national identity and pride in children.
Visits are scheduled :
Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 13:00.
Cost :
R60 per learner, including gift backpack and stationary. One educator per 10 children free.
Maximum :
60 learners per visit.
Please complete all required fields in the booking form.
Long March to Freedom is offering fully sponsored visits to qualifying schools:
CHECK IF YOU QUALIFY
During 2024 / 2025 Long March to Freedom is offering fully sponsored visits
to qualifying schools. The visit includes bus transport to and from LMTF, an
educational activity suitable for the grade of the learners, worksheet and
any other material required for the activity, lunch and a take-away gift.
-
Maximum of 60 learners per visit. You may apply for more than one
visit to accommodate other groups but it will be scheduled on another day.
-
Educators will be required to conduct a follow-up exercise with
learners after the visit - all details will be shared.
-
While we try to accommodate all requests, completion of the application
does not guarantee a sponsored visit. The funders of this programme wish
to give preference to 'no-fee' or lower quintile schools without the means
of arranging such a visit, and those recommended by the Western Cape Department
of Education. Private and Quintile 5 schools should send a mail to
schools@longmarchtofreedom.co.za
to find out if they qualify for a sponsored visit, or to arrange a paid booking.
Alternatively arrange for a paid visit by selecting the
Book a School Visit Tab on the previous web page.
-
If your application is successful you will receive a link to a booking
form which must be completed, signed and returned to confirm the visit
and agree to the terms.
-
Long March to Freedom is an outdoor exhibition - weather may cause
unavoidable changes to the booking schedule at short notice.
