Zelda Stroud
Zelda Stroud is a sculptor and jeweller living and working in Pretoria, South Africa.
She was born in Bloemfontein and graduated from Wits University with a BA Fine Arts (Sculpture) in 1986. After university she gained basic experience building architectural scale models and spent six months as an apprentice at an art foundry.
She spent a number of years teaching sculpture, life drawing and art history at tertiary level and has at various times built architectural models, sculpted waxwork figures for museums and studied jewellery design while occasionally contributing artworks to group exhibitions.
She is currently registered for a Masters degree in Fine Arts at the University of Pretoria while working on a fourth life-size bronze figure that forms part of a large public commission. Her artwork reflects her interests in jewellery, model making, and the human body with an emphasis on the politics of social and economic manipulation.
